Terms and Conditions

I am happy to accept instructions upon the following terms:

1. I will examine your client within 4 weeks of instruction, unless your client cannot/does not attend or cancels a previously arranged appointment.

2. I will produce a report within 6 weeks of this appointment (this time frame can be negotiated if necessary).

3. I require you to provide me with your client’s medical records at your expense prior to the appointment.

4. My fee for an interview and psychological examination of clients is £300 (a psychological assessment takes at least 2 hours).

5. My fees, thereafter, are based on an hourly rate of £150 for reading notes and preparing the report.

6. As an estimate, a straightforward medico-legal report, including the reading of hospital/other notes, will cost £600. More complex cases will be charged according to the above/below schemes.

7. If your client cancels the appointment, giving less than 48 hours notice I will charge you a cancellation rate of £100.

8. If I am asked to appear as an expert witness in a court case, my fee will be £150 per hour plus expenses.

9.  My fee for attending a case conference is £150 per hour from the time I leave my house/clinic/hospital plus expenses.

10. I require 6 weeks notice to attend hearings and case conferences. If such an attendance is cancelled with less than 4 weeks notice, 50% of my fees for the whole of the allotted time will be payable.  If I receive less than 14 days notice 75% of my fees for the whole of the allotted time will be payable.  If I receive less than 7 days notice 100% of my fees for the whole of the allotted time will be payable.

11. My fees are not subject to assessment and are not dependent upon the successful outcome of the case.

12. All fee notes are payable within 90 days. Alternative payment schedules need to be agreed in writing in advance.

13. I am able to work for the standard legal-aid fees.
